Fiberoptic Bronchoscope Procedure

The Necessary accessory and needs for the fiberoptic bronchoscope procedure kept ready on the endoscopy trolley. Check the fiber optic bronchoscope connected to light cable from light source console and camera console

Camera console is connected via adapted with fine adjustment and other settings

Tighten it with the fiberscope and lock it to avoid falling and slippingbronchoscope

Ensure fiber optic has been cleaned and disinfected before every use. Check mechanical function by ensuring that the tip moves in the appropriate direction( anteversion and retroversion)

Check the suction valve and appropriate negative pressure needed for suctioning

Connect the light cable and check with light source and brightness. Check with the camera at 12’ o’clock position with fine vision

Adjust with fine adjustment with the letter for better visuals.

Note: Check the date of Bulb changed in light source console by the way hours of a light source used according to the case done on average. This helps in scheduling the change of bulb and avoid errors during the procedure

Do not touch the light source with gloved or bare hands after use. The heat generated in the light source cable and adapter can harm the user or patients

In this situation, use cotton pads or gauze pieces to hold the cable.

Defog the lens using an appropriate solution and sterile clean gauze.

Catheter Mount in case of patients intubated

Syringe for flushing

Clean sterile lint-free gauze pieces

Saline Bottle for flush

Bowl for saline and solution for cleaning

Endotracheal tube in different sizes

Laryngoscope for intubation

Bain’s circuit

Face mask for mask ventilation

Spray used in Fiber Optic 

Xylometazoline 0.1 % (Otrivine ) for vasoconstriction

10 % xylocaine spray for topical anesthesia

2 % Xylocaine Jelly for local anesthesia and lubrication

Adrenaline for vasoconstriction
