Ultrasonography Uses and Doppler

Ultrasound scanning or Ultrasonography means exposing the parts of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produces the visual pictures of the internal structures of the body.

What is Ultrasound?

Using high-frequency sound in ultrasound for scanning the internal organs of human.

The inaudible high-frequency sound waves are transmitted to the body tissue using the ultrasound transducer probe.

Normal range of audible sound 20 to 20000Hz

Medical ultrasound waves 1- 20 MHz

1 MHz =1000000Hz

1KHz=1000Hz

The instrument will show the moving objects and fluids in real time and movement of an internal organ, blood flow, and fluid accumulation.

Ultrasound can be performed to evaluate the following body organ.

Kidneys

LiverUltrasoun Probe

Gallbladder

Lungs

Pancreas

Spleen

Abdominal aorta

Blood vessels of the abdomen

Peripheral vein and artery like Internal jugular vein etc.

USG fully used in diagnostic and some of the therapeutic purpose like aspiration of abdominal fluids etc.

Doppler modes in USG

Doppler USG used in the evaluation of blood velocity as it flows through a blood vessel. Including the body major arteries and vein in the abdomen, arm, legs, and neck.

The USG used to evaluate

Thrombus formation

Narrowing of vessels

Tumors and congenital malformation

CUSA Cavitational Ultrasonic suction and Aspiration
