Mc Burney’s Point and Mc Burney’s Incision

Mc Burney’s Point

It is located in the right lower quadrant midway between the umbilicus and the anterior iliac crest. Localization of pain in this area suggest appendicitis

Mc Burney’s Incision a small cut in Left side of that begins from 2 to 5 cm above the anterior superior iliac spine and runs parallel to the external oblique muscle of the abdomen. This incision used in appendectomy surgical procedure and similar to Lanz incision.

The Incision  will access to the appendix, Cecum, and ileocecal junction

Mc Burney’s Incision at the right iliac fossa in the right upper quadrant of the body.
