For all the procedure, get the written consent from the patient or attender

Follow this procedure for all the endoscopic procedures

NPO for at least 8 hours before the procedure to prevent aspiration of the stomach

Clearly explain to the patients about the procedures for the better co-operation.

Remove the patient’s denture and removable bridges before the procedure to prevent dislodgement

The oral cavity should be carefully assessed for the presence of infection or any lesion

Decontamination

Decontamination process is the physical or chemical processes that render an inanimate object that, contaminated with any microbial life safe for further handling and protect the HCW who come in contact with the medical devices from contracting diseases caused by microorganisms on those devices.

Endoscopy Technician takes care of the Scope and other instruments to handle it with care

The entire decontamination process will follow adhering to PPE-Personal Protective Equipments

INSTRUCTIONS

Contaminated instruments sets are received from the end-user with proper counts of the instruments and documented with the countersignatures.

All the valves of the equipment de-assembled
Segregated instruments will go through the primary washing to remove all the gross soil from the instruments.

Highly contaminated or infected instruments and endoscopy equipment are disinfected with 2.5 % disinfectant solution with 45 minutes contact time.

After the HLD-High Level Disinfection process, all the disinfected instruments and equipment will go through the routine decontamination process.

Then the instruments will go through the enzymatic cleaning to remove all the fine soils for 4-5 minutes.
Endoscopes are then rinsed under running tap water.

Endoscopes dried and visual inspection of instruments for any visible bioburdens residue.
If Endoscope damaged or defective, will be replaced with the new instruments
